Freeze TV, 2016

Single-channel 4K video · 10:06 min

FREEZE TV situates Beuys inside a transparent acrylic enclosure facing a television screen partially covered with felt. These felt blocks interrupt the authority of broadcast media, fragmenting the image and destabilising its message.

Within this setup, two forms of enclosure operate side by side: one physical, one informational. While the television produces a controlled flow of images, Beuys’ movements introduce an unpredictable counter-agency, exposing the artificiality and constraints of the media structure.

Her presence reveals the strangeness of systems designed for human consumption and control. The work draws attention to how visibility is curated, how information is shaped, and how power circulates quietly through regulated images.
